This beautiful bird lives in an area where the effects of climate change are fully visible by the thawing of permafrost. This is one of the feedbacks that amplify climate change by its effect on the carbon cycle, by emission of methane and carbon dioxide.
Research on the carbon cycle is the central activity of Kytalyk Carbon Cycle Research. This is based on experience with research in permafrost areas and peatlands in Western Europe, Siberia and North America.
Kytalyk Geoscience is engaged in:
Greenhouse
gas emission measurements from soils and ecosystems
Consulting
and research on greenhouse gas sequestration in soils and ecosystems Educative projects on soil, ecosystems and climate Geoscience
model development
